Notes
All
the photos, graphics,
artwork, borders, etc., on my websets are 'original'. I take
the photographs, I design the graphics and all backgrounds. I am
very careful to use only 'open source' fonts, dings, etc., so there
will be no copyright issues with anything I design. Any 'special
effects' scripts retain the credit info in the html file.
Designing web pages is a bit
difficult now due to the newer monitors, which come in many different
sizes and include many different display choices. The newer
monitors usually have very high resolution. My own monitor is
a 'widescreen' and I view web pages at the resolution of 1440x900.
The bad thing about viewing with a 'widescreen' is that now I
can see my own and others' web pages that were designed for 800x600
viewing size 'only' and weren't coded quite correctly. These
aren't very attractive when viewed on a wide screen.
I've
made a special effort to design the Limited Edition sets to look
attractive on 'any' size display setting. This means they will
look pretty at 800x600 settings but will also be nice to look at on a
widescreen monitor.

Resources
Cameras ... I use a couple of
Nikon digital cameras, the older D70 and the D200, with whichever lens
is needed for the job at hand.
Software
... Paint Shop Pro, (PSP), is what I prefer for photo editing
and for graphic design.
HTML
coding ... I hand code most of my sets because html editors tend
to 're-think' code and overwrite some scripts. However, there
are times when an editor can be much help and
save typing time. There are many html editors available, some
very expensive, some can be downloaded for free. You can find
these by doing a 'search', (I like Google).
There are many resources on the net that can tutor you with
hand coding html ... just do a search.
Special
Scripts ... dynamicdrive.com is an excellent source, and is a site I
have bookmarked. Fonts
... there are huge numbers of fantastic fonts available on the net,
many for free download. Fonts are not only for 'text' or 'copy', but
can be used for graphics. It is important to remember to use 'standard'
fonts for the text on your web pages, one that everyone will have
installed. Browsers
... a large majority of visitors who view my site use IE, (Internet
Explorer), as their browser. The IE users will see all the
'extras' that can be coded into a web page, such as the scroll bar
colors that match a page. IE users will also see the effects of
some scripts a special way, such as fading/blending slide shows.
Firefox and Safari browers don't 'read' many of these effects.
When you are setting up your own web pages, keep in mind that
there are many different browsers in use, and each will 'see' the pages
a bit differently.

Personal
note: Sadly, there are still too many people who think that
"if it's on the net, it's free for the taking". There is an old saying on the net, which I take to heart ... "give credit where credit is due".
